Physiotherapy & sports rehabilitation

Physiotherapy that gets you moving again

We find out where your complaint comes from and build a treatment around your work, your daily routine and your sport.

  • Thorough intake
  • Personal treatment plan
  • Active exercise therapy

Our approach

Personal care, evidence-informed treatment

No standard protocol, but a treatment built around your complaint, your workload and what you want to be able to do again.

How we work

We start by listening and examining. Then we explain in plain language what we see, what it means and which steps make sense. You help decide what happens next.

What we look at

  • How your complaint affects your daily life
  • How much load you can handle right now
  • What you want to be able to do at work or in your sport

  • Personal attention

We take the time to understand your story, your goals and the questions you have.

  • Evidence-informed care

We work from current physiotherapy insights and always explain the reasoning behind them.

  • Independence again

You learn what you can do yourself, so you can carry on without us once treatment ends.

Treatments

Treatments at Shifa Kliniek

Physiotherapy is our foundation. The other treatments support it — they never replace it.

Our main treatment

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is about understanding what is going on and then building back up on purpose. Assessment, explanation and exercise therapy form the backbone, with manual techniques added where they genuinely help.

  • Assessment and a clear explanation of your complaint
  • Exercise therapy pitched at your level
  • Building back towards work, daily life or sport

How it works

From first appointment to moving freely again

Five steps we go through together. How long each one takes depends on your complaint and your goal.

  1. 1

    Intake

You tell us what is going on: since when, what it stops you doing and what you want back.

  2. 2

    Assessment

We examine your movement, strength and tolerance to load, and talk through what we find.

  3. 3

    Treatment plan

Together we set goals and agree how we will work towards them, step by step.

  4. 4

    Treatment and training

Exercise therapy leads the way, supported by manual techniques and explanation where useful.

  5. 5

    Evaluation

We check your progress, adjust where needed and taper off towards carrying on by yourself.

Questions

Common questions about your first visit

Can't find your question? Ask us — we're happy to talk it through.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

In the Netherlands physiotherapy is directly accessible, so you can book an appointment without a referral. In some situations — a chronic indication, or certain reimbursement arrangements — your insurer will still ask for one. Not sure? Get in touch and we'll check it with you.

Is physiotherapy reimbursed?

That depends on your supplementary insurance and on your complaint. Physiotherapy usually sits outside the Dutch basic insurance, apart from a number of specific conditions. Check your policy or contact us and we'll work it out together.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring valid ID and your insurance details, plus comfortable clothing you can move in. If you have a referral or earlier results such as an X-ray or scan, bring those too.

How many sessions will I need?

That differs per person and per complaint. After the intake and assessment we give you an estimate and agree fixed moments to evaluate. If things go faster than expected, we finish sooner.

Can I come with a sports injury?

Yes. We guide you from the first days after an injury all the way back to your sport, including building strength, load tolerance and sport-specific drills.

Can I come without being in pain?

Yes. Think of building load tolerance, preventing recurring complaints, or improving technique in your sport or at work. In that case we mainly look at how much you can handle and how to expand that safely.
