Treatment
Sports massage at Shifa Kliniek
A sports massage can be welcome after a heavy training week or when muscles keep feeling stiff. We use it to support your training and recovery, not as a standalone fix for a complaint.

When a sports massage makes sense
Sports massage works best as part of a bigger plan. If your body feels stiff or tired it can bring relief and make moving more comfortable. If a complaint keeps coming back, we look at your load and build-up first.
- After an intensive training block or competition
- When muscles keep feeling stiff or tired
- Alongside your physiotherapy or rehabilitation
- While building up to a new training programme
What we pay attention to during a session
A sports massage here is never just massage. We also look at how you train and where you are running into trouble.
- Which muscle groups are carrying the load
- How your training week is structured
- Whether any complaints need proper attention
- What you can do yourself between sessions

Frequently asked questions
Does sports massage replace physiotherapy?
No. A complaint that keeps returning or limits your training needs a proper assessment. Sports massage can be part of that treatment, but it is not the treatment itself.
Can I book a massage right before a competition?
You can, but it's wise not to try it for the first time just before something important. Let us know in advance and we'll match the intensity to your schedule.
Is sports massage reimbursed?
Sports massage usually falls outside health insurance cover. Check your policy conditions if you want to be certain.
