Treatment
Hijama (cupping)
Hijama is a traditional treatment using cups. People choose it out of habit, conviction or personal experience. We carry it out carefully and hygienically, and we're open about what it is and what it isn't.

What to expect
Beforehand we go through your health situation and discuss whether the treatment is sensible in your case. We then work with sterile, single-use material. Afterwards you receive clear aftercare instructions.
- A short health questionnaire beforehand
- Sterile material, used once
- A calm, clean treatment room
- Aftercare advice to take home
What we do and don't claim about it
We think it matters to be straightforward about this.
- Hijama is a traditional treatment, not a medical one
- We make no claims about curing conditions
- It does not replace care from your GP or specialist
- For a physical complaint we recommend a proper assessment first
How a treatment runs
- 1
Intake conversation
We go through your health and any medication, and discuss whether the treatment is appropriate.
- 2
Preparation
The skin is cleaned and we explain step by step what is going to happen.
- 3
Treatment
The cups are applied using sterile material that is disposed of afterwards.
- 4
Aftercare
You receive instructions on caring for the skin and what to watch for in the first few days.
Frequently asked questions
Is hijama suitable for everyone?
No. With certain conditions, blood thinners, pregnancy or a weakened immune system it is unwise or not possible. That is why we always go through your health situation beforehand.
Can I combine hijama with physiotherapy?
You can, but they are two separate things. If you have a physical complaint we start with an assessment and physiotherapy. Hijama can sit alongside that at most.
Is hijama reimbursed?
Hijama falls outside standard health insurance cover. Check your policy conditions if you want to be certain.
